Job Description – Barti Rum Salesperson

Salary: £25,000-40,000. (Negotiable dependent on experience)
Contract type: Permanent full-time.
Location: Neyland, Pembrokeshire/on the road. (Opportunities to work remotely in part considered)
Benefits: Work laptop as well as a work phone and contract provided. Mileage covered. Flexible working hours to suit both candidate and business’ needs can be agreed.
Potential bonus scheme to be put in place in year two after appointment of the successful candidate.

Barti Rum are looking for a genuine, confident, courteous, highly motivated team player, who is keen to get stuck in to helping to grow what is already a jewel in the Welsh drinks crown, into an even bigger player on the bars and retail shelves across this and neighbouring lands!

We need a salesperson extraordinaire who can join our tiny team to deliver new business and look after existing customers. The type of customers the salesperson will be dealing with will range from drinks wholesalers to retail buyers to pub operators. Relationship building and maintenance is key and we’re looking for someone who can think outside the box to engage customers and secure new ones on a small business budget.

This is a pivotal role at a pivotal time for Barti Rum. The successful candidate’s ability to do their job well will no doubt shape the long-term success of the company. As the first 100% dedicated salesperson, the successful candidate will contribute their personality and expertise toward setting the tone for developing a broader sales team over the next few years. This is a huge opportunity for the right person and comes with the essential responsibility to proactively set their own schedule and deliver results.

Responsibilities

Spread the word. Barti is already a much-loved spirit in Wales, with a loyal following, especially in the West. The successful candidate will make sure the hospitality industry, initially in Wales, and ultimately nationally, knows the benefits of carrying it on the bar from the ground up. This means actively go out and speaking to customers.
Present. Actively set up meetings to present Barti through more formal routes to obtain listings through larger operational channels in both the hospitality and retail sectors.
Represent with pride and friendliness. The successful salesperson will represent the Barti brand on the front line. It is imperative that they know what the brand is about and they do so in a manner which is in keeping with the company’s culture. They should never disparage competing brands. Being authentic, polite and approachable is fundamental. (Translation: no sleazy sales please.)
Know the customer. On the flip side of knowing all about Barti, the successful salesperson will make it their business to know the needs, high, lows and woes of the individuals they are selling to, in all and any given trade channel. Thereby building rapport and being well positioned to offer help.
Profit and loss responsibility. The successful candidate will use their own experiences and knowledge to assist the directors in analysing sales data and deciding how best to use company resources to better profit. For example this might mean assessing the effectiveness of a promotion and determining its success to inform ongoing promotional strategies to further long term profit.
Fulfilment. The successful candidate will be expected to help keep track of new and principle orders to make sure they’re delivered as expected.
Network. The successful candidate will be expected to attend relevant networking events and opportunities where suitable, these will likely fall outside of traditional working hours.
Be the eyes and ears. The successful person over time will be able to inform and advise of trends and economic atmosphere within the alcoholic drinks industry from their experience. They will be very welcome to share their views on best types of account to target for long term sustainable growth and formulate strategies alongside the directors.

Education

A national sales/account manager should have a degree in sales, marketing or business.

Work Experience

They should have a minimum of 5-years’ experience in sales within the food and drink industry. Ideally, they should have experience managing a team and managing a budget. Experience working in a management role within the hospitality industry would also be beneficial.
