Overview
First Light Coffee is a unique independent coffee shop in Cardiff, and we’re on the lookout for a skilled barista and team leader with proven experience to join our vibrant and energetic team as we expand and open our second shop in Cathays, Cardiff. As a Barista and team leader, you will play a crucial role in creating an exceptional coffee experience for our loyal customers and managing the shop. You will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, ensuring food safety standards are met, maintaining a welcoming environment along with managing stock, team members and bringing new and ideas and input to the business.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks
Ensure all food safety guidelines are strictly followed during food preparation and service
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including equipment and utensils
Engage with customers to take orders, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction
Handle cash transactions accurately while demonstrating basic math skills
Collaborate with team members to manage time effectively during busy periods
Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages
Assist in managing team members.
Bringing creative ideas to the business that will separate First Light from other similar shops. We like quirky and fun.

Qualifications and desirables

Previous barista experience is preferred
Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable
Strong serving skills with a focus on customer service excellence
Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately
Excellent time management abilities to ensure efficient service during peak hours
A positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
A lot of our customers are runners and cyclists so an interest or hobby which aligns would be great but not essential.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£17.64 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week
