About Fungi Foods

Fungi Foods is a small, specialist food production business focused on making exotic mushrooms familiar and accessible. We produce mushroom growing blocks, dried mushroom products, and related food items from our North Wales facility. This is a practical, hands-on business — not a desk-only role.

We are now looking for an Operations & Production Manager to take ownership of day-to-day production and operations as the founder steps back from daily involvement.

The Role

This is a hands-on operational role at the core of the business. You will be directly involved in producing mushroom growing blocks and managing the physical production process, alongside planning, organising and improving how the operation runs.

This role includes manual, physical work and is not suitable for someone seeking a purely managerial or office-based position.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Physical Operations

Producing mushroom growing blocks (mixing substrate, filling bags, handling materials)
Loading, unloading and moving stock, raw materials and finished products
Operating production equipment (training provided where needed)
Managing pasteurisation / sterilisation processes
Maintaining cleanliness, hygiene and food-safe working practices
Monitoring quality, yields and consistency of products

Operations Management

Planning and scheduling production runs
Managing raw material stock levels and reordering
Improving workflows, efficiency and consistency
Maintaining basic production records and logs
Supporting compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, cleaning schedules, traceability)

Ownership & Responsibility

Taking day-to-day responsibility for the facility and output
Flagging issues early and solving problems independently
Supporting gradual transition away from founder-led operations

What This Role Is (and Is Not)

This role is:

Hands-on, practical and physical
Based on-site, not remote
Suited to someone who enjoys making things and seeing tangible output
A chance to run and shape a small production operation

About You

Comfortable with physical work (lifting, standing, repetitive tasks)
Practical, organised and reliable
Experience in food production, manufacturing, agriculture, brewing, or similar environments is ideal
Comfortable working in a small business where everyone mucks in
Able to take responsibility and work independently
Interested in growing, food, or sustainable production is a plus (but not essential)

Pay: £12.90 per hour
