We are seeking a self-motivated, friendly and well-organised cook to join our kitchen team at our Health and Wellbeing Retreat Centre in mid-Wales. In this position, you will be responsible for freshly cooking plant based meals (buffet style) and fresh juices for our retreat guests using fresh ingredients and natural flavours. You will also having responsibilities for checking deliveries and orders and general kitchen duties (including washing up during quieter periods). Training will be provided where necessary.

The ideal candidate will be committed to working to the highest culinary standards and enjoy working under pressure. As part of a team, you will be responsible for ensuring a superb guest experience, with high quality food and juice. In this role you will also interact with guests, chatting about the approach to cooking plant based food at the retreat. You will also be expected to lead cooking demonstrations for guests (with appropriate training).

Cooking duties:

· To prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to our menus and recipes

· Ensure that all food is prepared and served in a timely manner and meets quality standards

· Help manage stock control, ordering and receiving supplies as needed to ensure our kitchen is fully stocked, as well as adherence to daily/weekly legal documentation

· To take deliveries and rotate stock effectively

· Maintain a clean and organised work area

Comfortable speaking to guests about food preparation, and with suitable training, leading cooking demonstrations

Cook requirements:

· Hard worker who is willing to go the extra mile to meet guest and business needs

· Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure

. Competency dealing with allergens, intolerances and other food requests

· Ability to multi-task and deal with multiple demands during busy periods

· Ability to follow well established systems and processes to ensure efficiency across the business and kitchen team

· Pay attention to detail with maintaining standards in the kitchen. We use Safer Food Better Business food management system

· Ability to concentrate on the task at hand, without being easily distracted

· Flexibility to work shifts as required by the business, including providing cover for colleagues holiday

· Understands the requirements of working to the highest standards as part of a busy team

Previous experience/knowledge ideally required:

· 1+ years previous chef or cook experience in a hotel, retreat or commercial kitchen

· Health and safety certification desired (training can be provided)

· High level of English, written and spoken

· Further education qualifications preferred but not essential

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £13.00-£16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week
