Overview
The Golden Lion in Newport, PEMBROKESHIRE, West Wales is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our busy kitchen. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities

Washing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, and pans to uphold hygiene standards.
Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients.
Ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment throughout shifts.
Supporting the rest of the kitchen team during busy service periods by restocking supplies and organising storage areas.
Collecting and disposing of waste responsibly in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Maintaining a tidy work environment at all times to promote safety and efficiency.
Assisting with general cleaning duties in dining areas and behind the scenes as required.

Skills

Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures.
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends if required.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn about culinary operations and hospitality services.
