Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our busy culinary team. This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of our kitchen environment, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and efficient food preparation. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to learn about various aspects of hospitality and food service. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support chefs and kitchen staff
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans
Ensure all work surfaces and equipment are hygienic and sanitised in accordance with health and safety standards
Support with organisation of stock and ingredients to facilitate efficient kitchen operations
Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures to maintain a tidy workspace
Assist in setting up dining areas and clearing tables as required during service times
Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe working environment for all staff

Experience

Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided
Experience working in restaurants, hotels, or hospitality settings is a plus
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food hygiene standards is beneficial
Familiarity with serving or hospitality roles can enhance understanding of customer service expectations
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn about culinary processes are highly valued
