Job Summary
We are a new independent vinyl café and bar opening soon in Newport, and we're looking for barista / all rounder team members to join us. You'll be serving coffee, food and drinks during the day and evenings, supporting both our café and bar operations. Our shop will also sell records and music is at the heart of the café. This is a flexible role with opportunities for training, mentoring and growth in a fun, owner-run environment. We are looking for charismatic and enthusiastic staff who are passionate about music and want to be a crucial part of a driven and ambitious project. You'll also support in-store events, helping with service and creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Duties

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, adhering to company standards.
Serve alcohol responsibly during shifts.
Ensure all food safety protocols are followed to maintain hygiene standards.
Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing friendly and attentive service.
Handle cash transactions and operate the till with basic maths skills.
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and customer areas throughout shifts.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation during busy periods.
Assist with food preparation tasks when required, such as assembling snacks or light meals.
Manage time effectively during peak hours to serve customers promptly while maintaining quality standards.
Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
Attend training sessions and participate in staff mentoring opportunities.
Assist customers with vinyl sales and promote our music selection.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

Previous experience as a Barista in a café, bar or hospitality role is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Must be over 18 to serve alcohol.
Having a personal alcohol licence is desirable but not essential.
Willingness to learn and complete training.)
Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous.
Experience in serving customers with professionalism and courtesy.
Ability to work day and/or evening shifts, including weekends.
Good time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently.
Ability to perform simple maths calculations accurately for transactions.
Strong communication skills with a friendly attitude towards customers.
Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment.

Please note: We are recruiting for a mix of full-time and part-time roles. Hours will vary depending on the role, shift patterns and trading hours. Flexibility and availability for day and/or evening shifts, including weekends, is preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
