Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high standards of service and have a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in a café or food service setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a hospitality environment.

Duties

Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks
Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in accordance with food safety standards
Serve customers in a courteous manner, ensuring a positive experience
Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
Restock supplies and ensure the café is well-presented at all times
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold food safety standards
Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations

Skills

Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
Barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those new to coffee preparation
Experience in serving customers
Basic food preparation skills, such as assembling snacks or drinks
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Strong communication skills with a friendly and professional attitude
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team

Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour
